Background:
Tim graduated from Otago University in 2001 with his Bachelor of Physiotherapy. He then worked for 3 years at Gisborne Hospital gaining experience in all areas of physiotherapy practice, working in close association with specialist doctors and allied practitioners.
In late 2004, he travelled to the UK where he worked in the National Health Service and then for several months as a physiotherapist at the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Derbyshire, gaining valuable experience in ergonomics and occupational health.
He decided to capitalise on his work experience by returning to full-time post-graduate study. He spent 2007 doing his Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, learning from world-renowned researchers and practicing under the guidance of Australian Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists. He concurrently worked on a part-time basis in two private clinics.
On returning to New Zealand, he started work in early 2008 at the HealthZone at the Millenium Institute of Sport and Health. He was attracted to the clinic for its emphasis on elite multi-disciplinary management, longer (30 minute) treatment sessions and for the opportunity to work with athletes at all levels of competition.
His areas of professional interest include biomechanics, the biology of pain, manual therapy (including massage, joint mobilisation and manipulation), as well as motor control exercise and muscle balance. He believes a multi-faceted approach is essential to the successful treatment of most injuries and pain conditions and his approach is practical, emphasising treatments that make rapid but sustained improvements for each individual patient.
Outside of work Tim enjoys running, rock-climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, boxing and gym fitness training, and playing guitar.

Patient Testimonial
When I first met Tim I was in a wheelchair following complications from surgery.I was only able to walk very short distances with the help of crutches and with considerable discomfort.
Six months later, I am now able to walk short distances unaided with minimal discomfort and have started to take control of my life again. Tim deserves a lot of credit for my continuing recovery.
I have had intensive physiotherapy from him to aid strengthening and stretching and also acupuncture for pain relief.Throughout this time Tim has always been very approachable, caring, positive, honest, encouraging and professional with a good sense of humour. I am still having ongoing treatment from him and would happily endorse him to anyone needing physiotherapy.
