Background:
Peter is a proud born and bred west Aucklander of Chinese descent. Peter studied physiotherapy at AUT as a recipient of the “AUT Vice Chancellor and Significant Student Scholarship” and graduated in 2006. He then completed his post graduate qualifications in Acupuncture and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with honours finishing in 2009.
Peter worked for current Super 15 Auckland Blues physiotherapist, Mark Plummer for 5 years before deciding to spend a year in Newcastle, Australia with a clinic that specialised in knee and other lower limb injuries. He returned recently from Australia to join the HealthZone team.
Peter is currently involved with the New Zealand Mens Black Sticks hockey team and was the team physiotherapist for the World Cup campaign in Dehli last year.
He has been heavily involved with elite tennis athletes - being the tournament physiotherapist to the ITF juniors, ITF pro circuit, NZ Residentials and NZMT circuits over the past 7 years.
His previous other involvements have included A League Newcastle Jets Youth Men’s Football Team, Counties U20 Rugby Team, Auckland U85kgs Rugby Team and New Zealand Youth Olympic Festival Team.
His areas of interest include sports and musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation, lower limb biomechanics, motor control / movement dysfunctions, lumbar injuries.
Peter is looking to complete his APA Level 3 sports physiotherapy course in Australia and begin studying in muscle energy technique skills over the next year.
The travel bug lives strong in Peter. He has travelled throughout Europe and Asia and is looking forward to exploring America next. He is also a sports photography enthusiast always trying to capture the perfect action shot!
