Background:

Kirsty studied Physiotherapy at AUT as a recipient of the Fletcher Challenge New Zealand Sports Foundation Education Scholarship, a scheme allowing elite athletes to study and pursue their sporting goals. She began working in private practice once graduated and spent the next 4 years racing professionally as a road cyclist in Europe during the kiwi winter and a physio in the summer.

Kirsty was a multiple NZ representative for cycling. She competed in 5 world championships for NZ and was a member of the road cycling team for the 2002 Manchester Commwealth Games where she finish 6th in her favored discipline the individual time trial.

After the 2004 European season Kirsty decided to retire from high level competition and concentrate on Physiotherapy. She returned to NZ and continued working in private practice and became the physio for the NZ women’s road cycling team and NZ mountain bike team. In mid 2005 she meet her husband at a mountain bike event and consequently decided to follow him to Melbourne.

She spent the next 21/2 years working in Melbourne in sports medicine practices and it was here she picked up a passion for Pilates and realized the huge benefits it provided to her patients. During her time in Melbourne Kirsty was involved with many sporting codes including cycling, running, athletics and AFL football.

Her love of the outdoors pulled her back to NZ in 2007 where she continued to work in private practice specializing in core stability, postural retraining, and sports biomechanics. Kirsty has extensive knowledge in the areas of cycling technique and bike fit, running, swimming and kayaking biomechanics.

Outside of the clinic Kirsty does some work as a cycle coach and lectures on the post graduate musculoskeletal medicine course at Otago University. She no longer cycles competitively but has recently got involved in multisport, taking on the challenge of her first Coast to Coast in 2011.
